Foreign Bodies of the Subglottic Space Report of Two Cases

Abstract
The foreign body lodged in the subglottic space is of clinical importance because it is not only rare in occurence but can easily be confused with laryngeal diphtheria. The present report is concerned with 2 cases of such foreing body. The first case was a 7-year-old boy referred to us from other hospital after an emergency tracheotomy for dyspnea which unfortunately resulted in difficult decannulation, and the other patient was a 2-year-old male child referred to us after fruitless treatment over a period of 70 days of a respiratory tract disease under a variety of diagnoses. In both cases, the cause of the dyspnea and respiratory tract trouble was the lodgement of foreign body in the subglottic space. Both patients made an uneventful recovery after the removal of the foreign body under the guide of direct laryngoscopy.
